HomeBrew is OS X’s answer to Ubuntu’s apt-get. It’s a quick way of installing useful packages such as nodejs for your Mac.
Type the following in your terminal
ruby -e "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/master/install)"
Once you have HomeBrew installed, to install a package you simply type:
brew install [package name]
- wget – ability to download from web sites from the command line
- bash-completion – adds autocompletion to tools like git
Add this to .bash_profile after installing
if [ -f $(brew --prefix)/etc/bash_completion ]; then . $(brew --prefix)/etc/bash_completion fi
